Wow it's been a while but I'm back and writing again. Christmas was great. At first I spent a nice relaxing time with my parents in Sierra Vista. It was a well needed rest as I was I burnt out from work. After three days of quiet time with the folks I flew to spend some time with Susie who along with her mother, mother's boyfriend, younger sister, Debbie, older sister, Monica and her family were visiting Susie's brother, Lou, and his family in Connecticut. Susie has got a big family.
After a day in CT we were off to the Big Apple where we fit as much NY activities as we could. A lot of time was spent in Macy's. We enjoyed a great dinner and hilarious Broadway show. If you get a chance to see Avenue Q go see it. If you like puppets, porn and have a mature sense of humor, than this show is for you. It is as if the writers of Sesame Street and South Park got together and produced the best musical ever. This was more up my alley than Guys and Dolls.
The next morning we all went to the Rockettes Christmas Special at Radio City Music Hall. The technical skill of the dancers was great. They are so precise in their steps. It was great to watch and one of those things you should see once in your life. That said I still liked Avenue Q the best. I mean c'mon how can you not love a show that has a song called "the Internet is Great for Porn."
We also got to spend some time in Soho and Chinatown where we had some great Chinese food. I haven't found a great Chinese place in Tucson yet so this was a special treat. I also managed to get a slice of New York style pizza. It was so yummy and greasy. The perfect midnight snack after walking around Time Square. The big bonus of visiting NYC was hanging out with my friend Rod who was spending his vacation in Queens. I hadn't seen him since we left Oakland. It was great hanging without him.
After our two days in New York, we returned to Connecticut where I played in the snow with Susie, Debbie and their nieces and nephew. I hadn't played in snow since I was a teenager. I felt like a 15 year old again too. It must have been the chill of the snow as we sledded down the hill. I even attempted to make a snow angel.
Despite the good time in the snow, we returned to Tucson and I realized, as nice as it is to frolic in the snow, I'm not willing to live in the snow. It's nice to play in it but I sure don't want to have to shovel it.
